  • Q: Q. Why are baby teeth important?
  • A: The first set of teeth also called primary teeth is very crucial for proper development of facial features, jaws and muscles. They help not only for chewing and speech but also for normal development of adult teeth. It is crucial that the primary teeth stays healthy to allow proper eruption of adult teeth in the right position. At Peach Smiles, the kids dentist will take care of your little ones teeth to ensure their proper development and growth.

  • Q: What should I do if I have bad breath?
  • A: Neglected decay of the baby teeth may cause damage to the underlying adult teeth.

Early loss of baby teeth due to decay or any other undetected reason may result in issues with proper eruption of adult teeth and orthodontic problems. It also greatly affects the development of speech.

  • Q: What is pulp therapy?
  • A: Pulp is the innermost layer of the teeth which contains the nerves and blood vessels. When the decay is extensive, it is necessary to do pulp therapy with a bio-compatible medicinal filling to preserve the integrity of the tooth . This helps to save the tooth and maintain it in the necessary position until the adult tooth is ready to come in. Pulp treatment with white filling/white crown for the front teeth and pulp treatment with a stainless steel crown for the back tooth is usually the treatment of choice in cases of extensive decay of baby teeth.

  • Q: What are sealants and why are they necessary ?
  • A: A dental sealant is a protective coating applied onto the chewing surfaces of back teeth to prevent food and bacteria from getting stuck within the tooth’s grooves. There is no drilling or anesthesia of teeth involved. We use a special material to clean the teeth and apply the sealant with a small brush onto the grooves of the teeth and using light harden them so they can stay. They are usually recommended once every few years for your child’s back molars to prevent cavities.
